VfL Wolfsburg Women won 2-0 away at 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam in the second round of the DFB Cup to advance to the last 16 of the competition. Lena Oberdorf (45’+3) and Jule Brand (57’) got the goals for the Green-and-Whites at the Karl-Liebknecht-Stadion.

The She-Wolves travelled directly to Potsdam after the conclusion of their training camp in Harsewinkel, before returning to Wolfsburg on Sunday evening.

Green-and-Whites fans can look forward to the start of the new Google Pixel Women’s Bundesliga season on Sunday 17 September, when Tommy Stroot’s charges host Bayer 04 Leverkusen at the AOK Stadion (kick-off 16:00 CEST).

Goals

  • 0-1 Oberdorf (45’+3): Felicitas Rauch delivers a free-kick from the right towards the back post, where Oberdorf heads in to put the She-Wolves 1-0 up.

  • 0-2 Brand (57’): Ewa Pajor sets off on a run down the left and crosses the ball to the back post for Brand, who prods over the line. Just a few minutes earlier the same duo had also combined, only that time Brand’s header landed in the arms of goalkeeper Vanessa Fischer.

Tommy Stroot: “In the cup the main thing is to advance to the next round and we did that, so we’re happy. I’d have liked us to score another goal or two but otherwise I’m satisfied.”
