Social Commitment
Tomorrow together – One Team. Many Goals.
We, as VfL Wolfsburg, haven’t only been seen as a sports club for a long time. Football plays too large a role in society for that. The image that a club leaves behind in people’s minds isn’t just determined by goals and points, or won or lost games anymore, but also the club’s actions off the field. Football is more than just 90 minutes on the pitch.
Commitment to society is one of the characteristics that marks today’s times. It’s about living more consciously and participating more in society and its development. Activities in social and ecological areas have therefore gained enormous importance.
For many years, we have been strongly committed to social relevant issues. In 2021, for example, the British organisation Sport Positive named us as the sustainability champion of the German Bundesliga.
“Sustainability is one of the greatest challenges of our time. And football has the power to change things.”
– Michael Meeske, VfL Wolfsburg’s Managing Director
“Tomorrow together” and “One Team. Many Goals” stand for our diverse commitment to all areas. We don’t just see our teams as One Team, but also our fans, supporters, partners, and of course all of those working for VfL Wolfsburg. And even with the “Goals,” it’s not just about shooting the round thing into the rectangle thing; it’s also about achieving the many goals that we have set ourselves. We see it as our duty and destiny to do good and to bring about a change of thinking in society. From breaking down prejudices to barrier-free access for fans and reducing our emissions to net zero. We have a lot planned!
