The VfL Academy names its top three youth players of the month.
Seven teams, over 150 players – the VfL Academy is home to numerous young talents who catch the eye with impressive performances week after week. To recognise these displays, the Young Wolves’ sporting management team selects three “Players of the Month” every month. The winners for September have now been confirmed.
3rd place: Nikita Reisch (U15)
The U15 Young Wolves centre-back has developed into a cornerstone of the defence in recent weeks with a string of consistently strong performances. Nikita Reisch particularly impressed with his determination and aggression in the tackle. He also repeatedly found good solutions in possession.
2nd place: Felix Schmidt (U14)
Felix Schmidt caught the eye in September with numerous goal contributions and good decision-making on the ball. The central midfielder therefore played an important role in the U14s’ performances. His displays did not go unnoticed at association level either, with Schmidt earning an invitation to a training camp organised by the Lower Saxony Football Association (NFV).
1st place: Elia Zimmermann (U17)
As in August, first place in September once again goes to an U17 Young Wolves player. Elia Zimmermann produced strong performances both in training and in matches. The attacking midfielder registered numerous goal contributions and also posted outstanding running stats. Zimmermann also had the opportunity to gain his first experience of training with the first team, where he made a positive impression. He was also part of the squad for Thursday’s friendly against Havelse. The U17 player therefore takes first place and with it the “Player of the Month” award for September.
