Wolves’ summer schedule confirmed

All pre-season dates at a glance.

The Wolves players still have just under a month to recover before the new VfL coaching staff welcome their squad back for pre-season on Monday 7 July. The Green-and-Whites will play seven friendly matches before the first round of the DFB Cup, which is traditionally the first competitive game of the new season, in mid-August.

Three foreign opponents

VfL begin their pre-season preparations with the AZ/WAZ friendly match against a Beck’s XI on Saturday 12 July. They then face FSV Zwickau and Dynamo Dresden in the Volkswagen Cup on Sunday 20 July before taking on 1. FC Magdeburg on Saturday 26 July at the end of their week-long training camp in the Weimarer Land district.
The second half of the Wolves’ summer schedule includes friendlies against high-profile European opposition in the form of Espanyol (home, Wednesday 30 July), Feyenoord (away, Saturday 2 August) and Brighton & Hove Albion (away double-header, Saturday 9 August). After their dress rehearsal on the south coast of England, VfL are in DFB Cup first-round action a week later before kicking off their 2025/26 Bundesliga campaign between 22 and 24 August.
