Volkswagen and VfL Wolfsburg launch the ID. Polo Challenge together

She-Wolves and Wolves take delivery of new company cars in an exclusive VfL design.

Volkswagen and VfL Wolfsburg are showcasing their long-standing and close partnership with a special campaign: A total of 20 players from the Green-and-Whites’ women’s and men’s teams have taken delivery of their new company cars at the Autostadt. The vehicles are the new ID. Polo, featuring an exclusive VfL design. The handover also marks the launch of the new ID. Polo Challenge, which will be followed on VfL Wolfsburg’s social media channels over the coming weeks.

A test drive with a difference

Over the next few weeks until mid-October, the players will put Volkswagen’s new all-electric model through its paces in everyday life, making them some of the first people in Germany to drive the ID. Polo. However, it will not simply be a case of test-driving the car. The delivery of the vehicles marks the start of the ID. Polo Challenge, which will see the two teams go head-to-head. The tasks will require the players to demonstrate their driving skills, involve employees and fans, and show off their VfL knowledge, among other things. Fans can follow how the professionals get on and who is leading the points race on VfL Wolfsburg’s social media channels over the coming weeks.

At the vehicle handover at the Autostadt, Christoph Neininger, Head of Sponsoring at Volkswagen Germany, and Dieter Hecking, Managing Director for Sport at VfL Wolfsburg, welcomed the players.

“Bringing electric mobility to life”

Christoph Neininger: “Volkswagen and VfL Wolfsburg are connected by far more than a conventional partnership. For many years, we have stood together for innovation, team spirit and close ties to the Wolfsburg region. The handover of the new ID. Polo fleet makes this connection visible while also demonstrating how we can bring electric mobility to life in an emotional way. With the ID. Polo Challenge, we are also creating a creative platform that brings our teams, our brand and the fans together in a special way.”

Dieter Hecking also emphasised the significance of the joint campaign: “As some of the first people to test the new ID. Polo, we have a real highlight to look forward to. Our players will get to know the new vehicle intensively over the coming months and share their experiences. I’m particularly looking forward to the ID. Polo Challenge. The competitive spirit of our teams is well known, so I’m very excited to see who comes out on top in the end.”

The vehicle handover at the Autostadt marks the start of a multi-week campaign centred around the new ID. Polo. With this joint initiative, Volkswagen and VfL Wolfsburg are once again underlining their close cooperation and showing how innovation, electric mobility and football can combine to create a test drive with a difference.
