A special occasion for a strong show of support: on Wednesday, VfL Wolfsburg attended the summer party hosted by the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychosomatics at Klinikum Wolfsburg. Children and young people gathered with their families in the facility’s garden, along with numerous partners and supporters. The summer party was opened by chief physician Jacqueline Bauer and Wolfsburg mayor Dennis Weilmann. VfL took the opportunity to continue its long-standing support of the children’s clinic by presenting a donation of 3,345 €.
Proceeds from auctioned shirts
The donation cheque was presented by VfL Women head coach Stephan Lerch and Robin Joop from the Green-and-Whites’ CSR department. The impressive sum was raised by auctioning selected diversity shirts worn by the VfL men’s and women’s teams last season. Fittingly, given how the money will be used, the diversity matchdays at the time were held under the banner of “Mental Health”. The money will now go directly towards supporting the children and young people receiving psychosomatic care. “When I visited at Easter, I was very impressed by the work being done here. I’d like to provide regular support in future and make a difference,” said Lerch. The visit to the summer party therefore continues the long-standing partnership between VfL and the children’s clinic. In addition to Kilian Fischer’s role as patron, this includes visits from VfL Women and Men players as well as mascot Wölfi at Easter and Christmas, along with regular invitations for children and clinic staff to attend VfL home games.
“Far more than financial support”
Host Jacqueline Bauer expressed her gratitude for the Green-and-Whites’ commitment: “We would like to sincerely thank VfL for this generous donation. Your support enables us to provide important activities and resources to complement therapy, giving our children valuable, new and positive experiences. Experiences like these are particularly important for their development and recovery. Your donation is therefore far more than financial support – it directly helps to give the children valuable experiences and happy moments on their journey towards greater well-being and better health.”
