The outlook for VfL Wolfsburg’s meeting with Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night (kick-off 18:30 CET) is anything but gloomy. BVB may be unbeaten in six games in all competitions, but the Wolves have also picked up a head of steam lately, having not lost in seven outings.

More facts and figures on the last home match of 2022:

  • Dortmund’s Youssoufa Moukoko made history twice with his double strike against Bochum at the weekend. Not only was it the 17-year-old’s first brace, but his 10th and 11th Bundesliga goals made him the first player in the league’s history to reach double figures before his 18th birthday.

  • The last time the Wolves managed to beat Dortmund in the Bundesliga, Dieter Hecking and Jürgen Klopp were still in the dugouts as Daniel Caligiuri and Naldo fired VfL to a 2-1 win on the penultimate matchday of the 2014/15 campaign. That was followed two weeks later by victory in the DFB Cup final.

  • Maximilian Arnold netted a direct free-kick for the eighth time in his Bundesliga career in the 3-0 win at Mainz last time out.

  • Borussia’s third goal against Bochum was scored by Giovanni Reyna. His penalty kick took him to eight Bundesliga goals, moving him further clear of his father Claudio, who scored six times in 48 Bundesliga appearances for the Wolves in the 1990s.
