Training camp in Walchsee

The VfL Ladies have arrived at their training camp in Tyrol, Austria and have already had their first session out on the pitch.

Preparations for the 2018/19 campaign are in full swing for head coach Stephan Lerch's charges, who will be in the Austrian town of Walchsee until Sunday 26 August as they look to lay the foundations for a successful season. On Saturday morning the team departed the VfL-Stadion am Elsterweg for Hanover airport in order to catch their flight south to Munich. From there, the team bus took them the short distance over the border to their destination.

Two friendlies lined up

Upon arriving at the hotel, the VfL Ladies got straight to work and changed into their training gear almost straight away before going on a 30-minute jog. They subsequently took part in a 20-minute session out on the pitch, focusing on drills with the ball. In addition to the intensive training sessions planned during their stay in Walchsee, the double winners will also play two friendly matches. On Wednesday 22 August Lerch's side face UEFA Women's Champions League participants SKN St. Pölten (kick-off: 15:30 CEST), before meeting Twente Enschede on Saturday 25 August (kick-off: 16:00 CEST).
