Top versus bottom

VfL Women welcome 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam to the AOK Stadion on Saturday.

Just three days after the 5-0 victory at Galatasaray, it’s back to business in the Google Pixel Women’s Bundesliga for VfL Women. Promoted side Turbine Potsdam are the visitors to the AOK Stadion on Saturday 16 November, with kick-off at 14:00 CET.

Ahead of the clash with Potsdam, head coach Tommy Stroot spoke to the media about…

…the personnel situation: “As well as the long-term absentees Kristin Demann, Caitlin Dijkstra and Camilla Küver, Marina Hegering is also still sidelined. Luca Papp has a muscular problem and therefore won’t be in the squad tomorrow. Rebecka Blomqvist is getting a rest following her long lay-off. Alexandra Popp and Lena Lattwein have recovered well from their colds and are back.”

…the quick turnaround: “We have a very short gap between the two games. When you consider that we only returned from Istanbul last night, then you can see how little time we have to prepare. That’s a challenge we have to accept. Nevertheless, we want to show against Potsdam that we’re ready.”

…the meeting with the bottom side: “For me, it's not so much about the situation in the table. It’s about showing the necessary sharpness and concentration from the beginning. We know we’re up against a very compact team, who will try to threaten in transition. We’ll need a certain tempo to our play, precision and the determination to score goals.”
