The winners have been crowned

The Schulliga final at the Elsterweg stadium thrilled hundreds of children and teenagers.

A stadium full of emotion, loud support from the stands and plenty of smiling faces on the pitch: Last Tuesday’s Schulliga final turned the Elsterweg stadium into a special meeting point for young football enthusiasts from across the region. From 10am to 3pm, 25 schools from the districts of Peine, Gifhorn and Wolfsburg competed for the Schulliga title. Around 500 children and teenagers took to the pitch themselves, while families, friends, teachers and numerous fans loudly cheered on their teams.

Special atmosphere from the moment of arrival

The excitement was already palpable before kick-off: many fans travelled together to Wolfsburg on several coaches, creating a genuine final-day atmosphere on the way to the stadium. The tournament was officially opened by VfL managing director Michael Meeske, who highlighted the importance of the Schulliga and the shared sporting experience. Alongside the exciting matches, visitors were treated to a varied supporting programme. The music project “Talented & Precious” performed pop, rap, hip-hop and breakdance routines. Motivational contributions on stage also helped create a special atmosphere around the pitch throughout the day.

Football, community and appreciation

The tournament followed the principles of children’s football: all participants were actively involved and every player was given sufficient playing time. Under the motto “You are talented and valuable”, the focus was not only on goals and results, but above all on teamwork, mutual encouragement and fair play.

The teams impressed with their commitment, passion and visible joy for football. One player from the winning team from Peine said after the final: “It was really cool. We wanted to win the tournament – and that’s exactly what we did. Every matchday was special, but today I was really excited and had an incredible amount of fun.”

Peine and Gifhorn claim the titles

In the boys’ competition, Gunzelin Realschule Peine Team B came out on top to secure the Schulliga title. In the girls’ competition, Otto-Hahn-Gymnasium Gifhorn Team A were crowned champions.

Special thanks to supporters and organisers

Special thanks go to the many organisers and supporters of the Schulliga who made the tournament possible. Representing them are Andreas Hackel (NFV district of Peine), Frank Stephan (NFV district of Peine) and Martin Rietsch from Aktion Liebe Deinen Nächsten e. V., who have supported the project from the very beginning. The Schulliga is also funded for three years by the Lotto-Sport-Stiftung Niedersachsen and receives important support from the Lower Saxony Football Association. These partnerships play a key role in enabling children and teenagers to experience sport, community and memorable moments together.

Organiser Marko Kresic also drew an entirely positive conclusion after the final day: “We wanted to show the pupils that they are special to us and pulled out all the stops to do so: joy, an open heart and a competition structure that includes everyone. On top of that came good music, encouraging and appreciative communication, and a clear message to the young people: you are always welcome at VfL. Keep playing football and come back to visit us – our stadium doors are always open to you. It was a wonderful day for everyone involved and the Schulliga will definitely continue next season.”
