The long wait is finally over, with the UEFA Women’s EURO getting under way in Switzerland on Wednesday. A total of 10 VfL Wolfsburg players are participating with their respective nations at the tournament, where the top two teams from each group advance to the quarter-finals.
She-Wolf showdown
Norwegian duo Justine Kielland and new VfL signing Thea Bjelde face the host nation in their opening fixture at 21:00 CEST, meaning a head-to-head assignment against another Wolfsburg summer signing in Smilla Vallotto. Finland and Iceland are the other two countries in Group A.
Germany with five VfL players
Green-and-White quintet Sophia Kleinherne, Sarai Linder, Janina Minge, Stina Johannes and Cora Zicai are representing Germany, whose campaign kicks off on Friday 4 July against Poland in St. Gallen (21:00 CEST). Their other Group C opponents are Denmark and Sweden.
