On the final match-day of the 2017/2018 Allianz Frauen-Bundesliga season, the VfL ladies played out a 0-0 draw with 1. FC Köln. In spite of creating several excellent openings, the lady-Wolves were unable to break the deadlock against a well-organised Köln team. By claiming the point, the Green-Whites set themselves a new point record - 56 points in a single Allianz Frauen-Bundesliga season was a new high for the Lady-Wolves.
There was also a further title to celebrate: With 17 goals to her credit, Pernille Harder took the top-scorer crown to Wolfsburg for the first time in VfL’s Bundesliga history. Before kick-off, VfL bid a fond farewell to Isabel Kerschowski, Merle Frohms, Vanessa Bernauer, Luisa Wensing and Tessa Wullaert - five long-standing Green-Whites - as well as co-trainer Britta Carlson (who is to become assistant-coach of the Germen women’s national team), physiotherapist Alexander Jura and assistant Andreas Lemeter.
After the final whistle, the league championship trophy was handed over to the Lady-Wolves by DFB deputy president Hannelore Ratzeburg and Margit Stoppa, official from the Allianz Frauen-Bundesliga, and the Green-Whites celebrated euphorically together with their fateful fans.
