Seven teams, more than 150 players – the VfL Academy is home to a wealth of young talent making an impact week after week with impressive performances. To recognise these outstanding achievements, the sporting management of the Young Wolves has been selecting its three “Players of the Month” every month since August last year. The final winners of the season have now been announced.
3rd place: David Vajagic (U17)
The U17 striker scored four goals in the friendly matches against the SSV Vorsfelde U19s and AC Horsens (Denmark), while also setting up two more goals in the NFV Cup final against Hannover 96. Vajagic therefore played a key role in the Young Wolves securing their twelfth cup triumph overall.
2nd place: Romeo Lichtenthal (U15)
The central midfielder delivered consistently high-level performances in both training and matches, took on increasing responsibility on the pitch and developed into a key orchestrator for his team. In addition, Lichtenthal made a strong impression at the North German Championship with the NFV selection team.
1st place: Yvan Simo Kom (U16)
Yvan Simo Kom claimed the May “Player of the Month” award, having already won the inaugural edition in August. The 2010-born striker impressed with six goals, as well as his determination, ability to impose himself physically and his qualities in one-on-one situations with his back to goal, repeatedly bringing dynamism to the U16 Young Wolves’ attacking play.
