She-Wolves primed for Nürnberg test

VfL Wolfsburg Women are eager to head into the upcoming international break with a winning feeling, and they have the chance to collect three more points on Matchday 14 of the Google Pixel Women’s Bundesliga when they take on 1. FC Nürnberg on Saturday 17 February (kick-off 12:00 CET). At his pre-match press conference, head coach Tommy Stroot gave his thoughts on…

…personnel: “Lynn Wilms (back), Dominique Janssen (muscular problems) and Lena Lattwein (knee) will all miss out. Camilla Küver and Kristin Demann are back in the squad following their injuries.”

…the opposition: “What sets Nürnberg apart is that they stubbornly stick to their way of playing – and I mean that in a positive sense. They don’t allow themselves to get distracted by the pressure of a relegation battle. It’s not easy to create chances against them. With that in mind, we’ll invest a lot in the game and we’ll need to be very sharp. Obviously we know we’re the favourites to win and we want to justify that tag too.”

…the 1-0 win in the reverse fixture earlier this season: “It was a really tight match. The fact we were playing three games a week at the time certainly played a role too. Having said that, it was a game in which we saw plenty of potential for ourselves. We know that we can play a lot better against them. How to do that was one of the things we focused on in training this week. We know we need to make use of the wings and that crosses could be decisive. On the whole, we want to put in a dominant performance and pick up the three points.”
