She-Wolves on a roll

VfL Women are keen to pick up a fourth straight league win when they host SC Freiburg.

Ahead of VfL Wolfsburg Women’s home match against SC Freiburg at the AOK Stadion on Sunday 3 November (kick-off 18:30 CET), head coach Tommy Stroot gave his thoughts on...

…personnel: “Our long-term absentees Tini Demann, Camilla Küver and Caitlin Dijkstra are still unavailable. On top of that, Anneke Borbe is injured so she’s out this weekend, while Joelle Wedemeyer will probably miss out with a cold. Vivien Endemann returned from international duty with some muscular complaints so she’s not an option for Sunday either. On a more positive note, Ariana Arias will return to the squad.”

… opponents Freiburg: “I’ve seen quite a few of their games this season. They’ve gone through different spells. We’ll need to be well organised in terms of our rest defence, keep the ball moving quickly and make sure we don’t give possession away cheaply.”

…the situation at the top of the table: “I think we’re in a very, very good situation when you take into account the fixture list and the upheaval we’ve had. Things weren’t looking quite as rosy for a spell. We’ve already played against the teams above us in the table and have put ourselves in a good position to go into the winter break with. That’s the task we have now. We can’t control what the other teams do. Obviously I’m aware that the standings will change one way or another after the game between Bayern and Frankfurt on Monday evening.”
