She-Wolves earn 3-0 win

VfL Wolfsburg Women beat SV Werder Bremen away from home on Sunday evening.

Just days after lifting the DFB Cup, VfL Wolfsburg Women picked up another three points in the Google Pixel Women’s Bundesliga with a 3-0 victory at SV Werder Bremen on Sunday evening. The She-Wolves looked a little jaded after Thursday’s cup triumph and Bremen shaded the first half, but Tommy Stroot’s team took the lead in somewhat fortunate circumstances through Lena Oberdorf (41’) shortly before the break. Quickfire goals from Sveindis Jonsdottir (83’) and Chantal Hagel (85’) late on clinched a comfortable victory for VfL.

The She-Wolves are now on their way back to Wolfsburg to prepare for their final game of the Bundesliga campaign, against SGS Essen at the AOK Stadion on Monday 20 May (kick-off 15:30 CEST). The game will give Stroot’s charges a chance to celebrate their cup victory in front of their own fans.

Tommy Stroot: “I’m really happy. We were desperate to win the game and, in the end, the scoreboard read 3-0. It wasn’t all that easy – mentally or physically – after our win in the cup, so credit to my team.”
