Season debut at the AOK Stadion

The U17 Young Wolves host Eimsbütteler TV on Saturday.

VfL Wolfsburg’s U17s face their next home game in the DFB-Nachwuchsliga on Saturday. Christian Stegmaier’s side take on Eimsbütteler TV at 16:00.

More shots needed

After four matchdays, the Green-and-Whites are second in the table with eight points and remain unbeaten. VfL drew 1-1 with Hansa Rostock last time out. Stegmaier was generally pleased with his team’s performance, but still sees room for improvement in front of goal: “We had more touches in the penalty area, but we need to improve the quality of those actions. Overall, we also need to shoot more often instead of always waiting for an even better shooting opportunity.”

Eimsbütteler TV are still waiting for their first points of the season. Nevertheless, Stegmaier warned: “In our preparations for the game, we’ve seen that they want to transition quickly and very often pose a threat on the counter.”

“Mark our first game at the stadium with a win”

The venue provides an additional sense of anticipation. “For a lot of the boys, it’ll be their first appearance at the AOK Stadion, so that obviously makes it that bit more special. We want to produce our best performance and, as a team, mark our first game at the stadium with a win,” said Stegmaier.
