VfL Wolfsburg and SC Verl have come to terms on a permanent transfer for Philipp Schulze. The 22-year-old goalkeeper first moved to the third-tier club on loan in July 2024 and immediately established himself as the number one between the sticks, playing all 42 matches in the league and the Westphalia Cup across the 2024/25 campaign. Schulze had already gone out on loan for the second half of the previous season, playing for another 3. Liga side in Hallescher FC.
Schulze originally moved to the VfL Academy from Hannover 96 in 2017 as an U16 player, and made his way up the various youth teams for the Green-and-Whites. He was promoted to the first-team squad in summer 2021 but did not make an appearance at that level.
We would like to thank Philipp for his time with the club and wish him all the best for the future.
