VfL were drawn against fourth-tier outfit FSV Union Fürstenwalde in the first round of the DFB Cup last weekend, and the DFB have now scheduled the exact date and kick-off time for the fixture.
The Green-and-Whites will play their first competitive game of the 2020/21 season on Saturday 12 September (15:30 CEST), 75 years to the day after the club was founded.
The venue for the encounter is the Sportpark-Karl-Friedrich-Friesen, where the Wolves will meet a familiar face in Matthias Maucksch. Fürstenwalde head coach since 2019, Maucksch played for VfL between 1995 and 1997 and was captain of the side that earned promotion to the Bundesliga.
