The Wolves’ coaching staff for the 2026/2027 season is now in place. Jerome Polenz and Sergej Schmik will join head coach Tobias Strobl’s backroom team as assistant coaches. Polenz, 39, who enjoyed a professional playing career with clubs in Bremen, Aachen and Berlin as well as in Australia and Norway, most recently served as assistant coach at 1. FC Nürnberg. Schmik, 36, follows Strobl from SC Verl to the Green-and-Whites. The former 2. Bundesliga defender had also been working as an assistant coach at the third-division club since 2020.
Ural remains a Wolf
While previous assistant coach Frank Geideck has left VfL Wolfsburg, Murat Ural will remain part of the coaching staff. Goalkeeping coach Pascal Formann will also continue in his role.
