Offensive boost for the Green-and-Whites

Giovanna Hoffmann will join VfL Wolfsburg from RB Leipzig this summer.

VfL Wolfsburg Women are set to strengthen their attack for the upcoming season: Giovanna Hoffmann will join the Green-and-Whites this summer. The Germany international striker moves from Bundesliga rivals RB Leipzig to the She-Wolves, signing a contract through to 30 June 2029. The 27-year-old will wear the No. 7 shirt for Wolfsburg.

“A perfect fit for VfL Wolfsburg”

“We’re absolutely delighted to have signed Gio, an internationally experienced top striker, on a free transfer. She recently showcased her qualities in impressive fashion at the 2025 European Championship in Switzerland. With her mentality and physical presence, she’s a perfect fit for VfL Wolfsburg. Following her serious injury, we will give her the time she needs to settle in here and gradually return to her previous level,” says Ralf Kellermann, Director of Women’s Football.

106 Bundesliga appearances and 12 international caps

Hoffmann began her footballing career at SC Lehe-Spaden. Her path then took her via Werder Bremen and SC Freiburg to RB Leipzig. The 1.78-metre forward has made a total of 106 appearances in the Google Pixel Frauen-Bundesliga, scoring 20 goals. She has also earned 12 caps for the Germany senior national team, netting three times. Hoffmann is currently working towards her comeback following an ACL injury.

“Leading the way with plenty of goal threat”

“VfL Wolfsburg have been a mainstay in European football for many years. You might not get an opportunity like this twice – so I want to give everything for the club, take on responsibility and lead the way with plenty of goal threat. The environment here offers ideal conditions to get the very best out of yourself. For now, my full focus is on making a complete recovery. I’m working hard to get back to being 100 per cent fit as quickly as possible,” said Hoffmann.
