The women’s team from VfL Wolfsburg will have an addition to their coaching staff for the coming season: Markus Högner is to take on the role of new Lady-Wolves assistant coach, thus succeeding Britta Carlson, who moves on to become assistant coach of the German national team, after spending nine years with the Green-Whites. Duly, Carlson and Högner, who will also take on the role as Sporting Director of the VfL women’s youth teams, will basically swap places. The new assistant to head coach Stephan Lerch, had been co-trainer to Steffi Jones with the German women’s national team since March 2016. The 51-year-old is no stranger to the Allianz Frauen-Bundesliga either, having been head coach at SGS Essen from 2010 until 2016. During the 2008/2009 campaign, Höger trained the reserves from FC Schalke 04 in the ‘Regionalliga West’.

Head coach Stephan Lerch added: "I am looking forward to working together with Markus and to enjoying intensive daily exchanges with him. Markus has many years of experience in women’s football and will be an asset to our coaching-team with his extensive expertise."
