After one season in green and white, Janou Levels is leaving VfL Wolfsburg: The contract between the club and the Dutch defender, which originally ran until 2028, has been terminated by mutual agreement. Levels is joining Spanish giants Real Madrid. The two clubs have agreed not to disclose the transfer fee. The 25-year-old joined the She-Wolves from Bayer 04 Leverkusen ahead of the 2025/2026 season and made a total of 35 competitive appearances. She scored three goals and provided eight assists.
“An offer of this magnitude is not the norm in European women’s football”
“We would have liked to continue working with Janou, as she played a very important role in our plans,” said Vanessa Bernauer, Director of Women’s Football at VfL Wolfsburg. “Of course, when Janou approached us with her desire to leave, we could also have insisted that she fulfil her contract. Ultimately, however, Real Madrid’s offer was of a magnitude that is not the norm in European women’s football. Given the financial framework, we agreed to terminate Janou’s contract.”
