Management Board Complete

Steffen Grupp takes over responsibility for the “Marketing and Sales” division.

The VfL Wolfsburg Management Board is now complete. Steffen Grupp will be responsible for the “Marketing and Sales” division, which includes the Marketing, Sales and Fan Services departments. The 49-year-old has served as Head of Sales at the Wolves for the past 15 years and will assume his new role on July 20, 2026. Together with Dieter Hecking (Sport and Communications) and Jens Klingfurt (Finance, Infrastructure, Human Resources, Procurement and IT), Grupp forms the Green-and-Whites’ three-member Management Board.

Strong ties to VfL and the region

“Steffen Grupp is a sales professional with many years of experience and an extensive network. He knows VfL Wolfsburg extremely well and has strong ties to the region. Working alongside Dieter Hecking and Jens Klingfurt, he will play an active role in helping to develop our club sustainably,” said VfL Supervisory Board Chairman Sebastian Rudolph.

“VfL has become my home”

“It means a great deal to me to be entrusted with responsibility as a Managing Director of VfL Wolfsburg. I would like to thank the entire Supervisory Board for the confidence they have placed in me,” said Steffen Grupp. “For more than 15 years, VfL has been far more than just a workplace for me – it has become my home. During that time, I have come to know our club, its strengths, its values and the people who shape it inside out. I know just how much support we receive from our fans and how strongly rooted we are in the region. I’m looking forward to working closely with Dieter Hecking and Jens Klingfurt, and to shaping the future together with our employees, our fans, our partners and the people of the region.”

From SPORTFIVE to the Wolves

Steffen Grupp joined the Wolves from SPORTFIVE in April 2011, where he had been responsible for marketing the VIP hospitality areas of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa across German-speaking markets. He had previously worked for SPORTFIVE Tixx GmbH from 2003 to 2005 in Ticketing and CRM (Customer Relationship Management), before taking responsibility for sales in the same field at CTS Eventim Sports GmbH from 2005 to 2008. Since joining the Wolves in 2011 as Head of Sales, he has been responsible, among other things, for the club’s in-house commercial sales activities for both the women’s and men’s teams.
