Bad news for VfL Wolfsburg and Lukas Nmecha: the striker will not just miss the last competitive match of the year at TSG Hoffenheim this Saturday, 12 November (kick-off 15:30 CET), but will be sidelined for several weeks with a knee injury. Scans on Wednesday morning revealed that the 23-year-old suffered a partial tear of the patellar tendon in his right knee during the home match against Borussia Dortmund. An operation is not required.
“It’s a shame that Lukas will miss the last match of this year and also can’t be at the World Cup in Qatar. We wish him a speedy and trouble-free recovery,” said VfL managing director Jörg Schmadtke.
