VfL Wolfsburg Women will be paying a visit to nearby Calberlah on Saturday 26 July, when they take on AC Sparta Prague at the Relog Sportpark (kick-off 15:00 CEST) in their second friendly of pre-season. The match will be shown live and free of charge on Wölfe TV.
Before the game, She-Wolves head coach Stephan Lerch spoke about…
…personnel: “Christina Schönwetter is still training on her own and Sharn Freier has also just completed her first individual sessions. Guro Bergsvand is still recovering but she’s making good progress. Those players, along with the ones involved at the European Championship, aren’t available. On the other hand, we’re delighted that Martina Tufekovic is fit again. We’ll be topping up the squad with one or two U20 players.”
…his expectations heading into the friendly: “Compared to the game against Leipzig, I hope we dominate and dictate the rhythm a little bit more. We had some good transitions but want to be a little calmer in possession. We need to find quick solutions in pressing situations – that may be the case again tomorrow. Generally speaking, Prague are physically robust, aggressive opponents. It’ll therefore be important that we’re not thrown off course.”
…the local venue: “It’s great to be playing in the region again. We’re looking forward to the atmosphere in Calberlah and the environment that awaits us there. It also gives us the opportunity to get even closer to the fans. That’s why all of us – the coaching staff and the players – are brimming with excitement.”
