The Ladies’ final game before the start of the Allianz Women’s Bundesliga season will take place in the far north of Europe after Stephan Lerch’s side were drawn against the Icelandic champions during Friday’s draw in Nyon, Switzerland. The first leg will take place in Iceland on 12 or 13 September, before the return leg at the AOK Stadion on 26 or 27 September.
“We want to get over this hurdle”
“They’re a team we don’t know an awful lot about and need to take a thorough look at,” said sporting director Ralf Kellermann ahead of the Ladies’ 51st and 52nd encounters in European competition. “We’ve obviously avoided a couple of really big teams in the draw but we mustn’t underestimate the effects of a long journey. We take every team that has qualified for the Champions League very seriously, of course, but we obviously want to get over this hurdle and reach the next round.”
