Defender Guro Bergsvand is another new addition to the VfL Women squad, bringing with her plenty of international experience. In her first interview in green and white, the 31-year-old spoke about her goals with VfL, her style of play, her links with former She-Wolf Caroline Graham Hansen – and even her TikTok account.
Guro, this is your first time here in Wolfsburg. How does it feel?
Guro Bergsvand: “It feels great! It’s wonderful to finally be here, to get to know everything and to meet people. I’m really pleased!”
What made you choose VfL?
Guro: “Wolfsburg is a big name in women’s football – it’s a club with an impressive history and success at domestic and international level. This move is an incredible opportunity for me. I’m looking forward to making my contribution out on the pitch and helping the club remain successful in Germany and in the Champions League.”
You know some players who have already played in Wolfsburg. Did you speak to any of them about VfL?
Guro: “Yes, Caroline Graham Hansen is one of my closest friends and she had lots of positive things to say about Wolfsburg – how professional the club is, how great the people are and how good her own experiences and memories were. Her impressions definitely confirmed my decision.”
Two years ago, you moved to England, and now you’ve come to Germany. Why did you decide to change countries again?
Guro: “I had a great time in England and really enjoyed playing there. At the same time, women’s football in Germany has been well established for a long time. The Bundesliga is a tough league with a good standard and that is exactly what attracted me to it. Apart from that, I’m looking forward to learning German and getting to grips with the culture here.”
