The home win over Union Berlin was a boost for VfL in terms of both their position in the table and confidence. Ralph Hasenhüttl’s men now travel to RB Leipzig on the back of two wins in a row as well as two draws before that. It’s one and a half years since the Wolves went five games unbeaten. Their opponents, in contrast, have lost four of their last five matches in all competitions, although they haven’t lost at home in the Bundesliga for what seems like an eternity.
Here are the rest of the facts and figures on the clash with RB:
- RB Leipzig have played more matches against the Wolves (22) than against any other club at professional level.
- Leipzig are unbeaten in 12 Bundesliga games at the Red Bull Arena (W8, D4) – 13 would equal the club record. No team in the German top flight is currently unbeaten at home for as long as the Saxony side.
- The Green-and-Whites are currently third in the away table with 10 points, 11 goals scored and six conceded. The Wolves have never before collected so many points in the first five away outings of a season.
- So far in 2024, Leipzig have registered 14 clean sheets at home, more than any other Bundesliga team. Across Europe’s big five leagues, no other club has such a low average of goals conceded per game in 2024 as RB (0.5).
- Marco Rose is still waiting for his 100th Bundesliga win as a head coach following three unsuccessful attempts in a row. He remains on 99 victories from 176 games.
- Under Hasenhüttl, RB stormed to second place in 2017 in their maiden campaign in the Bundesliga. The 67 points that season remains Leipzig’s best showing in the top flight.
