Guilavogui back in training

The Wolves began preparations for Saturday's match against Bayern Munich with a smaller squad than usual.

With the international break now coming to an end, VfL Wolfsburg have begun preparations for the upcoming meeting with record Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich on Saturday 20 October (kick-off 15:30 CEST). Head coach Bruno Labbadia put his charges through their paces in a first session on Monday, while there were two training sessions on Tuesday. In the morning the focus was on transitions and creating overloads, before moving into the gym in the afternoon.

Ginczek: Bayern have "unbelievable quality"

Several members of the Wolf pack are still away with their respective national teams, meaning the size of the training group was smaller than usual. Yunus Malli and Jakub Blaszczykowski were the only players to have returned from international duty; the former was able to take part in the full session with the squad, while Kuba underwent an individual programme alongside Jerome Roussillon. Once training was over on Tuesday, VfL forward Daniel Ginczek gave his thoughts on the match against Bayern, who have been slightly off colour recently: "When Bayern have a spell like they're currently having, some people say 'it's now or never', but you can't forget that Bayern have unbelievable quality and probably have the best squad in the Bundesliga. That said, we'll analyse them and will try to exploit their weaknesses. We've picked up points against good teams at home this season, so why shouldn't we do so against Bayern too?"

Guilavogui: "I feel really good"

A familiar face was back on the training pitch on Tuesday as team captain Josuha Guilavogui stepped up his recovery from injury. The French midfielder injured his knee in the first game of the season against FC Schalke 04 and has been undergoing a rehabilitation programme in his hometown in France over the last few weeks. Now back in Wolfsburg, the VfL No.23 will work individually with athletics coach Christoph Tebel. "I feel really good and I can't wait to be back with the team soon," said Guilavogui. "For now, though, I need to train with our athletics coach, but I'm working hard and am making progress. In addition to running, today we focused on making tackles and changing direction. My knee coped with it fine, so I'm very happy."
