Green-Whites honoured

Double-winners enter their names in the city of Wolfsburg’s ‚Golden Book‘ and celebrated with the fans on the town-hall square.

The big stage for the Lady-Wolves: Following Sunday afternoon’s clash with 1. FC Köln, almost 1,000 Green-Whites supporters made their way to the town-hall square in Wolfsburg’s city centre. Together with the fans, the team, coaching team and staff, as well as those responsible at the club, the VfL ladies celebrated their league and domestic cup double win. There was then an additional honour for the team and VfL head-coach Stephan Lerch: In acknowledgement of the double-success, the Lady-Wolves were not only presented with medals, but they were also giving the honour of entering their names in the city of Wolfsburg’s ‘Golden Book’.

"Sensational season"

Along with the two national titles, the VfL women also set a new personal record in the Allianz Frauen-Bundesliga - never before had the Green-Whites claimed 56 points in a single season: A further indication of just how amazing a campaign it was. VfL general manager Dr. Tim Schumacher remarked: „It was a sensational season with two titles and a Champions League final in Kiev. The ladies can be very proud of their achievements. They are a genuine flagship for the entire club. We will continue to do everything in our power to make that success possible in the future.“
