A number of VfL Wolfsburg Women players were in action for their national teams over the weekend. Alongside World Cup qualifying fixtures, there were also matches at youth international level.
Early World Cup Qualification Secured
The Germany national team have qualified early for the 2027 World Cup in Brazil. A 2-0 victory over Norway secured top spot in League A Group 4 for the DFB side on Matchday 5, meaning they can no longer be displaced from the summit. Vivien Endemann came on in the 66th minute, while Sophia Kleinherne entered the game in the 80th minute. Stina Johannes, Camilla Küver and Sarai Linder were unused substitutes. Janina Minge was unavailable due to suspension following a red card. Germany conclude their group campaign away to Slovenia on Tuesday evening, with kick-off at 18:00 CEST.
Norway Head for the Play-offs
For Norway, Guro Bergsvand and Thea Bjelde played the full 90 minutes. Justine Kielland was introduced in the 77th minute. Norway remain second in the group on nine points and can no longer catch Germany. As a result, they will have to take the play-off route to the World Cup. Norway host Austria on Tuesday evening at 18:00 CEST in their final group match.
