Final Say: Augsburg

The facts and stats following the 1-1 draw with the Fuggerstädter.

VfL Wolfsburg had to settle for a 1-1 draw at home to FC Augsburg on Matchday 9 after Mohammed Amoura’s equaliser. It means the Wolves are still waiting for the first home win of this Bundesliga season.

Further facts

Amoura Man of the Match: Probably not just because of his equalising goal in the 82nd minute, Amoura was named Man of the Match with over half (57%) of the votes from fans. Bence Dardai came second with 12%, closely followed by Joakim Maehle with 11%.

One shot, one goal: Augsburg registered just three attempts over the course of the whole match, only one of which was on target – and ended up in the back of the net. It was the third goal of the season for FCA striker Phillip Tietz.

Reunions on both sides: Saturday’s meeting at the Volkswagen Arena saw Elvis Rexhbecaj return to his old stomping ground, while VfL’s Danish duo Maehle and Jonas Wind were reunited with Augsburg head coach Jess Thorup, who coached Maehle at KRC Genk and Wind at FC Copenhagen.

Comeback after eight months: Lukas Nmecha missed 20 matches in all competitions due to injury, before finally returning to action for VfL at the weekend. His first few minutes after injury left us wanting more – nice to see you back on the pitch, Lukas!

Second debut for Dardai: Having made his full debut in the DFB Cup against Borussia Dortmund a few days earlier, youngster Dardai also celebrated his first start in the Bundesliga against Augsburg. And after playing 80 minutes in the cup tie, the midfielder went the distance this time.
