Danish striker on her way

Cecilie Floe Nielsen will strengthen the VfL Women’s attack from next season.

She is one of the key players in the Danish national team, has just enjoyed a successful season in Italy’s Serie A – and will soon be wearing the VfL Wolfsburg shirt: Cecilie Floe Nielsen has signed a contract with the VfL Women valid until 30 June 2030. The Danish striker is moving from Napoli Women to the Mittelland Canal. Following the arrivals of Giovanna Hoffmann, Katharina Piljic and Ylvi Eisenbeiß, the 24-year-old becomes the Green-and-Whites’ fourth signing so far.

“I’m really looking forward to wearing the VfL Wolfsburg shirt next season,” said Floe Nielsen. “VfL is one of the best clubs in Germany and also has a fantastic history on the international stage. I hope I can contribute with my attacking qualities and help us achieve our shared goals over the coming years. It will be exciting to see what we can accomplish together. On top of that, it will be a great experience to play in such a highly competitive league in Germany!”

Ralf Kellermann, VfL Wolfsburg’s Director of Women’s Football until the end of the month, led the negotiations with Floe Nielsen. He is delighted to have secured the Dane’s signature: “Cecilie has taken a major step forward in her development, particularly over the past season, which attracted interest from numerous clubs. That makes it all the more pleasing that she sees her future at VfL Wolfsburg, and it also sends a strong signal for our ongoing squad planning. With her pace and, not least, her eye for goal, she will be a real asset in attack.”

Prolific goalscorer with international experience

With 11 goals, Floe finished third in the Serie A scoring charts last season. She recently scored twice for the Danish national team, playing a key role in securing direct qualification for the World Cup for the Scandinavian side. Despite still being at the beginning of her career, the striker has already had two spells in the United States: after a high school stint in Florida in 2017, she joined Tampa Bay Sun in 2024/2025 before moving to Napoli.
