Crunch clash on the big stage

VfL Women’s home match against FC Bayern Munich will be held at the Volkswagen Arena.

VfL Wolfsburg Women’s two most recent games at the Volkswagen Arena remain fresh in the memory. In the knockout stage of last season’s UEFA Women’s Champions League, the She-Wolves welcomed both Arsenal and Barcelona to Wolfsburg’s largest stadium. Fans of the 2021/22 double winners can now look forward to yet another key game on the big stage, namely the FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga clash between VfL and FC Bayern Munich.

The meeting between the two heavyweights of German women’s football will take place on either 22 or 23 October, with the German Football Association (DFB) set to confirm the exact date and kick-off time in the coming days.

“A green-and-white football festival”

“The last Champions League campaign already showed that the trend in women’s European football is to stage certain standout games in large stadiums,” said Dr. Tim Schumacher, managing director of VfL Wolfsburg-Fußball GmbH. “It makes me all the more pleased that we’re now preparing an attractive venue for our She-Wolves’ big domestic encounter with FC Bayern Munich. After our wonderful games against Arsenal and Barcelona with five-figure attendances, I’m very optimistic that we’ll experience another green-and-white football festival at the Volkswagen Arena for this top-of-the-table league meeting.”
