After progressing in the DFB-Pokal and the Niedersachsenpokal, VfL Wolfsburg’s U19s return to DFB Youth League action on Saturday with points at stake once again. The Young Wolves host DSC Arminia Bielefeld at 13:00. The Green-and-Whites will also mark a first this season, with head coach Niklas Bräuer’s side playing at the AOK Stadion for the first time.
Stay in touch with the leaders
The Young Wolves have won three of their first four league matches. Their only defeat so far came away to current league leaders Hannover 96. With nine points, the Green-and-Whites are second in the table. They are three points behind the Reds, although Hannover have already played one game more.
The Young Wolves have been in cup action on each of the past two weekends. After progressing against Fortuna Düsseldorf in the DFB-Pokal, they most recently claimed a 2-0 away win at Kickers Emden in the Niedersachsenpokal.
Head coach Bräuer is therefore confident ahead of the return to league action: “We want to carry the energy and confidence from our recent games into this one. I’m convinced that we can put in a dominant performance at home over the full 90 minutes.”
Mixed start for Arminia
The visitors from East Westphalia have played three matches in the DFB Youth League so far. Arminia began with an emphatic 7-1 away win at TSV Havelse, before suffering defeats against SC Preußen Münster and Hannover 96. “They’ve already had some good moments, but they’ve also repeatedly made life difficult for themselves. Our task is to take advantage of that,” Bräuer says of the upcoming opponents. With three points, Bielefeld currently sit fifth in the table.
The head-to-head record so far favours the Young Wolves. VfL have won four of the five meetings, with the other ending in a draw. The most recent encounter took place in July 2025 in a friendly. The Green-and-Whites won 5-1 on that occasion.
