After their convincing 4-0 win at home to SC Freiburg, VfL Women next face bottom-of-the-table MSV Duisburg at home on Saturday, 18 November 2023 (kick-off at 14:00 CET). Tommy Stroot spoke to the media before the match about…
…squad availability: “In addition to Rebecka Blomqvist, Tabea Sellner and Sveindis Jonsdottir, Joelle Wedemeyer’s also going to be sidelined for this game. Alexandra Popp did the last two training sessions in full with the group and is ready to play, as is Dominique Janssen.”
…what he hopes to get out of Saturday’s match: “We want to continue where we left off against Freiburg and focus solely on our own game. I expect Duisburg will sit back and defend and look to create an upset, and so to counter that, we want to keep our foot on the gas all the way through. And if we do that, we know that we’ll come away with the three points.”
…the Duisburg team: “We expect Duisburg to play the way they did against Bayern, staying very compact in front of their own goal and trying to draw the sting out of our game or not letting us get into any kind of rhythm to start with. We need to find the right ways and means to allow ourselves to dominate over the 90 minutes.”
