All-rounder on the way

VfL Wolfsburg sign Sara Doorsoun from SGS Essen.

The defensive department of the women’s team at VfL Wolfsburg are to receive a well-renowned enhancement for the coming season: In Sara Doorsoun, a defensive all-rounder with Bundesliga experience and a 13-time German ‘A’ international, makes the move to the Lady-Wolves from league opponents SGS Essen – signing on in Wolfsburg until 2021. The 26-year-old made her Bundesliga debut in 2010 with SC 07 Bad Neuenahr, moving on to 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam in 2012 and a year later then to SGS Essen – making a total of 184 Frauen-Bundesliga appearances, scoring 21 goals. Born in Cologne, to a Turkish mother and Iranian father, Doorsoun has been through several DFB youth teams, is defensively extremely versatile – providing a central or full-back option, as well as being an alternative in defensive-midfield.
