6,800 euros for children with cancer

Art work by Joelle Wedemeyer and Nina Stiller auctioned off for a good cause.

VfL defender Joelle Wedemeyer is a passionate painter in her spare time. While she normally produces art for family and friends, this year, for the first time, she exhibited some pieces publicly thanks to a collaboration between VfL and the Wolfsburg Art Museum.

Afterwards, ā€˜Flaming(joe)ā€™ was auctioned off at the VfL summer festival for 1,111 euros. Photographs taken by Nina Stiller were also sold at the auction, leading to the total amount raised rising to 6,800 euros. The money will go towards children with cancer who are recovering with their families at the ā€˜Haus am Bernsteinseeā€™ in the district of Gifhorn.

ā€œUse the money to expand our premisesā€

A few days ago Wedemeyer, Stiller and Otmar Bƶhmer, managing director of the Art Museum, presented a cheque with the donation to Avery Kolle, managing director of the ā€˜Haus am Bernsteinseeā€™.

ā€œThis is an incredible sum of money for us,ā€ said Kolle. ā€œWe will use it to expand our premises even further to give even more families the opportunity to take advantage of our services.ā€

Wedemeyer and Stiller are delighted that the proceeds from their pictures will benefit children going through a difficult time. ā€œIt was very emotional,ā€ said Wedemeyer after handing over the cheque to Kolle, who had told her about some of the children who are currently spending valuable time with their families at ā€˜Haus am Bernsteinseeā€™.

ā€œIā€™m just so grateful,ā€ continued Wedemeyer, 28. ā€œFirst came the idea of the painting, then the exhibition in the Art Museum ā€“ which was a dream come true ā€“ and now the auction with Nina. Itā€™s been a complete success.ā€
