“Won’t be a walk in the park”

VfL Women take on third-placed 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam on Friday.

VfL Wolfsburg-Trainer Stephan Lerch klatscht nach dem Spiel mit Dominique Janssen ab.

After sweeping past VfL Bochum with an 11-0 away victory in the DFB Cup, VfL Wolfsburg Women are back in action in the FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga on Friday 6 November with a crunch clash away to Turbine Potsdam (kick-off 19:15 CET). At his pre-match press conference, head coach Stephan Lerch discussed…

…the opposition: “In Sofian Chahed, Potsdam have a new coach and he’s been doing very well so far in his new role. You can see that they’ve become more flexible and can play using different systems. That’s made them more unpredictable. At the moment Potsdam look very stable. It won’t be a walk in the park for us – quite the opposite in fact. We’ll need to give it our all if we’re to take all three points.”

…the current situation: “We’re second in the table and we want to beat the team below us in third. In terms of league positions [Bayern Munich are currently top], there are some big games coming up this month.”

…Fridolina Rolfö: “Frido’s on the right track. She’ll certainly be able to play a few minutes more than she managed in Bochum, but she’s not ready to be in the starting line-up yet. She’s an option if we need to react or, hopefully, if we want some fresh legs if we’re in front.”
