Due to the spread of coronavirus, all FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga, Women’s Bundesliga 2 and DFB Cup matches up to and including 19 April have been suspended. As a result, the She-Wolves’ DFB Cup quarter-final at FSV Gütersloh 2009 (21 March, 17:00 CET) as well as the league games against 1. FC Köln (29 March, 14:00 CEST) and 1. FFC Frankfurt (4 April, 13:00 CEST) will not take place as planned. Whether domestic action will resume immediately after 19 April remains to be seen.

UEFA to make quarter-final decision

Meanwhile, UEFA has yet to decide whether to postpone the upcoming UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-finals. VfL Women are due to face Scottish record champions Glasgow City FC in the last eight, with the ties scheduled for 25 March and 1 April.

“A huge challenge for society”

VfL Managing Director Dr. Tim Schumacher: “In my view, there was no alternative other than to postpone all games in the FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga, Women’s Bundesliga 2 and the DFB Cup. The fight against the continued spread of coronavirus is a huge challenge for society that is impossible to reconcile with maintaining a regular training and fixture schedule.”
