On Thursday 1 July, VfL Wolfsburg officially kick-off their preparations for the 2021/22 season, which heralds the club's return to the UEFA Champions League. After new head coach Mark van Bommel was officially unveiled at a press conference on Wednesday afternoon, the 44-year-old will lead his first training session at 10:30 CEST on Pitch A.

Players who featured at or remain involved in the UEFA European Championship will not take part, but there will be a number of familiar faces returning alongside some new arrivals.

Newcomers and old friend

William, Elvis Rexhbecaj and Omar Marmoush, who were all out on loan last season, will be back among the squad, while summer arrival and Belgium U19 international Aster Vranckx will take to the pitch for the first time in VfL colours.

Moreover, several players from the club's youth academy who have been promoted to the first-team pool, such as Anselmo Garcia McNulty, will be keen to impress their new coach.

The Wolves' first training session of the new campaign will be broadcast live on YouTube and the VfL homepage from 10:30 CEST.
