The newest member of the VfL Wolfsburg team can be described as powerful, dynamic and reliable – and he’s a real eye-catcher too. Since September, the Wolves have been travelling in a MAN Lion’s Coach L, their new team bus. The official handover of the vehicle took place this week, with VfL players Koen Casteels, Wout Weghorst and Josip Brekalo together with coach Oliver Glasner, sporting director Marcel Schäfer and managing directors Jörg Schmadtke and Michael Meeske welcoming their new companion.
“Like many other Bundesliga clubs, VfL Wolfsburg have been trusting team buses made by MAN for many years, and have only had good experiences with them,” said Schmadtke during the event. “We’re hoping to do as much international travel as possible with this bus this season.”
Glasner: “Big feel-good factor”
“We spend a lot of time in the team bus,” said head coach Glasner. “This model offers every comfort and a big feel-good factor with lots of amenities.” Because of their involvement in the Europa League, the squad are often in action every three days, which means regeneration plays an important role.
The new mobile team quarters have not just impressed VfL Wolfsburg, but also international trade journalists. Experts from 22 different countries crowned the MAN Lion’s Coach the ‘Coach of the Year 2020’, with its full package of economy, comfort and reliability – as well as the unmistakeable MAN design language – hitting the spot.
“Our new signing is definitely an impressive sight,” said Meeske. “The Wolves and MAN have been working together since as far back as 2010. Such a solid and long-lasting partnership between a club and its partner is not to be taken for granted and says everything about the success of our collaboration to date.”
