Today we see Koen Casteels giving advice to a youth team goalkeeper, the VfL women in front of the Wölfe TV cameras and the date for the next round of the Premier League International Cup.

Goalie get-together: Wednesday turned out to be a big day for young goalkeeper Merlin Thiel, as the former VfL Football.Academy player who recently won his battle with leukaemia got to meet Koen Casteels. After the morning’s training session, the Wolves’ No.1 spent a while with the 16-year-old, who managed to get through his serious illness with the help of his love of sport. The two of them got down to the nitty-gritty of the goalkeeper’s art, with Merlin looking to get his career back on track between the sticks. He is currently playing for MTV Gifhorn U16s.

Lucky seven: With props aplenty and smiles on their faces, seven She-Wolves posed for the club’s cameras on Tuesday to film GIFs. Claudia Neto, Dominique Janssen, Felicitas Rauch, Hedvig Lindahl, Ingrid Engen, Madelen Janogy and Pernille Harder went to the Wölfe TV studio, armed with good humour and a few ideas of their own, to complete the full set of GIFs for the She-Wolves. They will be available soon on the VfL-Giphy channel, complete with yesterday’s additions.

VfL Development Squad off to Liverpool: The quarter-final dates for the Premier League International Cup have been set, and on 10 March at 19:00 local time the VfL Development Squad will take on Liverpool U23s at the latter’s home ground. The two teams finished top of their respective preliminary groups, with VfL winning all three of their encounters to qualify for the last eight of the competition for the first time.
