Roussillon with muscle injury / No away fans at Münster / Germany out of Olympics
In the news today: Jerome Roussillon is currently sidelined, only home fans will be allowed at the cup match in Münster, and Maximilian Arnold’s Olympic journey ends.
Forced to sit out: Wolves left-back Roussillon is currently absent from training after coming off with a thigh muscle injury in the friendly against Monaco. It’s doubtful whether the Frenchman will be fit in time for the first competitive match of the season at Preußen Münster in the DFB Cup first round (Sunday 8 August, kick-off 15:30 CEST). “It depends how the injury proceeds,” said Wolves coach Mark van Bommel.
No away fans: In response to enquiries, we would like to reiterate that the Wolves’ DFB Cup first-round tie at Preußen Münster on Sunday 8 August will definitely take place without VfL supporters in attendance. Permission has not been granted by the authorities for visiting fans at the Preußenstadion.
Team Germany knocked out: The German team have been knocked out of the Olympic football tournament in Tokyo. A 1-1 draw against Ivory Coast was not enough for Stefan Kuntz’s men, who finish the group in third out of four places. Wolves midfielder Maximilian Arnold led out the side as captain but was substituted at half-time.
