The Wolves eased to victory at home to Saint-Etienne on the sixth and final matchday of the UEFA Europa League group stage in a match in which the French visitors rarely posed a threat in the final third and were ultimately undone by a goal from VfL debutant Paulo Otavio.

As a result, Glasner’s troops earned the runners-up spot in Group I with 11 points, just one behind section winners KAA Gent. The Green-and-Whites will discover their opponents in the Round of 32, which will be played on 20 and 27 February 2020, when the draw for the knockout stage is made on Monday 16 December.

Oliver Glasner: “I’m very satisfied with the game. The team showed they wanted to win right from the off. We really wanted to go into this last intensive period of the year with a win and the players achieved that very impressively out on the pitch. We created a lot of chances and were very stable at the back, so the boys deserve credit for a terrific performance. I’ve got a good feeling as we head into the last week of the year, with three games still to play. I know we’ve got a lot of options in the squad who are in very good shape.”
