Oliver Glasner im Gespräch auf dem Trainingsplatz.

On Saturday 12 September (kick-off 15:30 CEST at the AOK Stadion), the Wolves begin their 2020/21 campaign against FSV Union Fürstenwalde in the first round of the DFB Cup. At Thursday’s pre-match press conference, Glasner was asked about…

…the personnel situation:Kevin Mbabu has unfortunately suffered a ligament injury. He’ll be sidelined for an indefinite period and therefore won’t be available in the cup. Jerome Roussillon, who hasn’t trained all week, is also expected to miss the game. It’s also likely that one or two players who were involved with their national teams will be given a rest.”

…VfL’s first-round opponents: “Our aim is obviously to reach the next round. It’s up to the lads to help us achieve that. We’re taking the game and our opponents very seriously.”

…the busy start to the campaign: “I’m aware of the many games early on in the season, but I’m not having sleepless nights over it. That said, I think it’s very important that we don’t view our schedule as a burden, but as a challenge. If we go in with a positive attitude, I’m confident we’ll do well.”

…the Wolves captaincy: “This wasn’t an issue for me. Josh Guilavogui will remain our captain, that’s always been clear to me. We haven’t elected a players’ committee because we haven’t all been together as a group yet. We’ll do so next week or the week after.”
