“We’re going to Berlin to win”

VfL coach Oliver Glasner was in bullish form ahead of the Wolves’ first away league game of the season.

Having started the 57th Bundesliga season with a 2-1 win at home to Köln last weekend, the Green-Whites travel to the capital for their first away fixture on Sunday 25 August (kick-off 18:00 CEST). Ahead of the clash with Hertha, who picked up an impressive point at Bayern Munich on Matchday 1, Glasner spoke to the press about…

…opponents Hertha: “I’m expecting a difficult game. Hertha will be doing everything to win their first home match. They’ve added a lot of quality and pace to their attack with [Dodi] Lukebakio, and in [Vedad] Ibisevic they have a classic centre-forward who’s extremely dangerous in the box. What also distinguishes them from other teams – as they showed in Munich – is how much ground they cover.”

…his team’s strategy: “Our approach is clear: we’re going to Berlin to win. We know it won’t be easy, but we also know that we’re in good shape. The players have been excellent in training this week, and now we want to take that onto the pitch.”

…the personnel situation: “The situation is no different to the previous two games. Paulo Otavio is on his way back so we can keep increasing his workload. It’s nice to see that almost everyone is fit and healthy. After his minor surgery, everything is going to plan with Daniel Ginczek and he’s where he should be in his rehabilitation. With Ignacio Camacho, it’s not as easy to give a prognosis. Sometimes it gets better and then there’s another little setback. At the moment it’s in a bit of a trough. All of us, and especially him, hope that things finally settle down now.”
