“We need to pull out all the stops”

Oliver Glasner shares his thoughts ahead of the Wolves’ trip to Freiburg on Saturday.

VfL Wolfsburg lock horns with SC Freiburg in their next Bundesliga match on Saturday 7 December (kick-off 15:30 CET). Despite watching his side lose 3-2 at home to Werder Bremen last time out, the VfL head coach feels the Wolves are back on track as they aim to return to winning ways on Matchday 14. The Green-and-Whites have a good record in Freiburg, going unbeaten in their last six visits to the Black Forest. At Friday’s press conference ahead of the teams’ latest meeting, Glasner revealed how his charges intend to prolong that impressive run, while also sharing his thoughts on…

…SC Freiburg: “Freiburg has always been a bit of a stronghold, where they seem to cause a stir year after year. At the moment, it looks like they’re going to be fighting for a place in Europe again. They play refreshing, honest football and always work as a team. It won’t be easy to win there, but that’s our objective. We’ll pull out all the stops and make life as difficult for them as possible.”

…what he expects from his side: “We’ll do everything we can do be successful in Freiburg. Our performances are improving again, even if the last game ended in disappointment with defeat against Bremen. We forgot to defend our goal on two occasions but also created a lot of chances. Our opponents were very efficient. Overall, the team has taken a step forward in several areas in recent weeks. We want to keep that up.”

…personnel: “The players are fit. For this time of year - the beginning of December - they’re in very good shape. Ignacio Camacho is obviously still unavailable and we’re also without Yunus Malli and Ismail Azzaoui. Everyone else is able to take full part. In just under four months we’ve played over 20 competitive games, so I’m very happy with our current situation.”
