The Wolves travel to Malmö FF for the second leg of their Europa League last-32 tie in confident spirits.
VfL Wolfsburg face Malmö in the UEFA Europa League Round of 32 second leg on Thursday 27 February (kick-off 18:55 CET). VfL head coach Oliver Glasner and winger Josip Brekalo faced the media at Wednesday’s pre-match press conference.
Oliver Glasner on…
…a possible change in system due to injuries to Kevin Mbabu and Jerome Roussillon: “We’re mulling over several options, but I don’t want to speak about them just yet. It’s certainly possible that we’ll play with three at the back.”
…the absence of VfL skipper Joshua Guilavogui: “We were hoping until recently that Josuha would be fit, but he’s stayed at home and will receive the best possible treatment.”
…the first-leg result and Malmö’s impressive home form: “We go into the game with a 2-1 half-time lead. We’ll try to attack, score goals and not rest on our laurels. We’re looking forward to a fantastic atmosphere, although the lads are used to playing in tight stadiums with a lot of fans from the Bundesliga. We’ll stand our ground tomorrow.”
…Max Arnold’s return from a domestic ban: “Max Arnold is having a great season up to now and has started almost every competitive game. It’s likely he’ll also be included tomorrow.”
Josip Brekalo on…
...looking forward to the return leg: “I’m really pleased to be able to play in a game like this. I already said after the first leg that we’ll face a completely different game in Malmö. If we reach the next round it’ll make us stronger as a team.”
…the atmosphere in Malmö: “I’ve already heard from my teammates that the atmosphere is going to be exceptional. Malmö definitely won’t make things easy for us in front of their own fans. If we pick up where we left off in our last match, we’ll go through.”
